- Osprey nest viewing at Brushy Point.
Friday, July 8
- Wine and Cheese reception begins at 6:00 pm. We celebrate the fifth birthday of Electra, a female osprey severely burned as a chick in the Spring of 2006 when her nest atop a nearby power pole caught fire. Special guests include her rescuers, and those participating in her rehabilitation. A portion of your $25 ticket will be donated to The Wildlife Center in Espanola, New Mexico Raptors, and Santa Fe Raptors, for the work they do in rehabilitating injured birds. NOTE: A variety of live uncaged raptors are also in attendance. [Reservations encouraged.] Click here for details.
Saturday, July 9
- Reserve a spot on the Water Safari, a naturalist-guided pontoon boat excursion of Heron Lake highlighting nest sites seen from the water. $20 per person. Advance reservations only. Click here for details.
- Self-guided viewing of active osprey nests visible from the park road
- Ranger Talk at 2:00 PM: Sharing the trail with Bears and Cougars
- Wildlife exhibits feature live birds, reptiles, and mammals indigenous to the American southwest
- Bird house and feed station building workshop [fee]
- Exhibitors and vendors
- Storyteller [for the very young-at-heart]
- Guided nature walks
- Evening presentation: Teddy Roosevelt, 26th president of the United States will give a presentation beginning at 7:00 PM at the Ridge Rock Camp area, just past the Heron Dam on Hwy 96.
- Evening star party [weather permitting]

- Rio Chama Trail Hike at 10 am.
